The Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry announced that 5286 health staff and other frontline workers involved in COVID-19 prevention activities have been vaccinated today.
Among the vaccinated are 1886 employees of the NHSL, 803 Colombo North Teaching Hospital, 781 of the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, 600 of the Army Hospital, 400 of the Army Camp Panagoda, 382 of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, 190 of BH Homagama, 108 of BH Mulleriyawa, 80 of the IDH and 56 of the Navy Camp Welisara.
The Epidemiology Unit observed that the health staff and other frontline workers in COVID-19 prevention activities attended very enthusiastically for the immunization programme.
The Unit also observed that no side effects were reported and the program shall be carried out island wide tomorrow.
“We hope to immunize a large group of healthcare staff and other frontline workers in COVID-19 prevention today.” the Chief Epidemiologist observed.
