Anticipatory Bail applications filed by three former Directors of Swarnamahal Financial Services PLC, were fixed for inquiry on January 27 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Mohommed Mihal .
However, the Magistrate rejected the anticipatory bail application filed by Deepa Edirisinghe, another Director of the Swarnamahal Financial services PLC, due to a printing error.
Accordingly, the Magistrate issued notices to the OIC of the Criminal Investigation Department who was named as the respondent of the anticipatory bail applications.
The four suspects had earlier told the court that the criminal Investigations Department is preparing to arrest them in connection with the alleged Rs.3 billion financial fraud that took place in their company. The anticipatory bail applications were submitted by Nalaka Premal Edirisinghe, Jeewaka Hemal Edirisinghe, Anjalee Deepa Edirisinghe and Asanka Srimal Edirisinghe, who were recently accused of criminal misappropriation, cheating, money laundering and other offences.
