The Cabinet of Ministers has approved to reorganize the Prison Intelligence Unit.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka Prison Emergency Response Strategic Force will be enabled to assign specific duties to ordinary prison officers.
The Strategic Force is for security duties, protection of special prisoners/ suspects and riot control.
