The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has issued an extraordinary gazette notification on Wednesday(9) directing all manufacturers and traders of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to ensure that adequate quantities of the domestic cylinders weighing 12.5kg containing Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) shall be available for sale at all LPG sales outlets island-wide.
The Gazette notification further states that, no trader who has in his possession or custody or under his control the domestic cylinders weighing 12.5 kg containing Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for purpose of trade within Sri Lanka shall refuse to sell the domestic cylinders weighing 12.5 kg containing Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) or in any manner directly or indirectly compel consumers not to purchase such cylinders.
This Direction shall come into effect from 09th June, 2021.
The gazette has been issued by Maj. Gen. SHANTHA DISSANAYAKE (Retd.), Chairman of CAA, under the powers of the Consumer Affairs Authority Act No. 09 of 2003.
