All Samagi Jana Balawegeya (SJB) MPs on the directive of Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa will donate their salaries towards the purchase of medical equipment required to treat COVID-19 patients.
MP Dr.Kavinda Jayawardena said that all their Parliamentarians will be donating towards the purchase of Covid equipment required by hospitals. He said that at the beginning of the pandemic a Committee headed by Sajith Premadasa, Dr.Rajitha Senaratne and himself was formed named ‘Vipakshayen Husmak’ to provide relief during this pandemic.
Accordingly, the SJB had donated Rs.68 million worth hospital equipment including multipara monitors, ventilators and other equipment to several government hospitals including in the North and East.
Jayawardena also said that SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa and SJB parliamentarians also want to donate their salaries to similar projects to purchase medical equipment for government hospitals according to their requirements.
