All the 15 leaders included in the Punjab cabinet today have been made cabinet ministers.

The Punjab Governor also administered the oath of office to Bharat Bhushan Ashu as a Cabinet Minister. He was in the cabinet of Captain Amarinder Singh. MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra said that he has resigned in protest of agricultural laws, so he himself refused to take the post of minister. The swearing in of 15 new ministers of the state is being held at Raj Bhavan.

The ministers were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Banwarilal Purohit. With this, the number of ministers in the new cabinet of the state, including the Chief Minister, has increased to 18.

At present, the three members in the cabinet are Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Chandni, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Deputy Chief Minister OP Soni.

Kuljit Nagra is a MLA from the Amloh area of Fatehgarh Sahib district. His grandfather General Shivdev Singh was the Health Minister. Father Gurdarshan Singh became MLA four times and Minister twice. Mata Satinder Kaur has been the President of Punjab Mahila Congress twice. He himself was elected MLA twice from Nabha and twice from Amloh.

In fact, it is believed that the Congress High Command has laid the political chessboard through the new cabinet of Punjab to take complete control of the State Congress as well as to neutralize the influence of other leaders including Captain Amarinder Singh.

The composition of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s cabinet was cleared on Saturday after nearly six days if deliberations.
