Three female SSPs promoted to Acting DIG rank for the first time in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Police for the first time in its history has simultaneously promoted three female Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to the rank of Acting Deputy Inspector General (DIG) with immediate effect considering the service requirements.

Accordingly, female SSPs A.G.N.D.Seneviratne, S.A.R. Jayasundara and W.J. Padmini have been promoted on the approval of the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security and on the covering approval of the Public Service Commission.

DIG Seneviratne was attached to the State Intelligence Service and has been appointed to the Information and Technology Division and DIG Jayasundara has been appointed to the Child and Women Bureau from the Research and Development Division while DIG Padmini will continue to perform duties at the Welfare Division.

Police Media Spokesman, SSP Nihal Thalduwa said according to the latest restructuring program being implemented within the Sri Lanka police, it will pave the way for the talented and skilled female officers also to be appointed as the Inspector General of Police.
