New Delhi:
Maruti-Suzuki has released a new teaser which suggests that its upcoming car is the S-Cross and not the Jimmy. Actually, recently the company released another teaser, after which there were speculations that it could be the company’s upcoming car Jimny. But now it has been confirmed that this car is going to be none other than the S-Cross.
Earlier this month, the company uploaded a short teaser clip showing tire marks on snow, sand dunes and beaches.
Since Maruti doesn’t have a dedicated off-roader in the lineup after the discontinuation of the Gypsy, this was seen as an indication that this could be a teaser of the new Jimny SUV coming to India. But now the company has cleared the situation that the car seen in the teaser is S-Cross only. Maruti Suzuki has been low on new launches in recent times, in fact not launching any new cars from Maruti, after the new S-Presso was launched back in late 2019. The company is now gearing up to introduce the new-gen new-gen Celerio, which is expected to launch in India in the next few months. This will be followed by some midcycle updates and launches after the car.
No sign of Jimny:
The company has earlier announced production of the Jimny SUV which is exported to the overseas market from Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant. On the other hand, there is no official information on when the car will actually be introduced in the Indian market. A longer, 5-door version of the Jimny is expected to arrive in India in 2022.
