Jammu has been witnessing surge in COVID-19 cases for the past few days. To contain the spread of the deadly virus that has raised its head again in the Union Territory, a night curfew has been imposed from Wednesday.
The district administration has imposed COVID-19 curfew under section 144 CRPC from 10 pm to 6 am (instead of 11 pm to 5 am). The restriction will be in place in the territorial jurisdiction of District of Jammu from today (November 17) till further orders.
“Any violation of this order shall invite action under IPC,” the order read.
The positivity rate in Jammu has increased beyond 0.2 per cent which requires immediate attention and remedial action on the part of district administration, the order issued by the Jammu district magistrate said.
Jammu District Magistrate also said asked Tehsildars and SHOs have been asked to make residents in their respective area aware of the night curfew and its limitations.
Also, Chief Medical Officer, Jammu has been asked to ensure robust COVID-19 testing in congested areas and potential hotspots.
Jammu and Kashmir has 1,517 active cases of COVID-19. Death due to coronavirus in the UT has reached 4,453. As many as 3,28,318 patients in J&K have recovered from the virus.
