83 fails to bring audience to theatres on Day 2, collects Rs 16.95 crore on Christmas

New Delhi:

Even Christmas cheer couldn’t bring footfalls to theatres to watch Ranveer Singh-starrer 83 as the film collected much lesser than expected, grossing ₹16.95 crore.

The collection was far lower than the recent big release, Sooryavanshi and Spider-Man: No Way Home, which made Rs 23.85 crore and Rs 20.37 crore on second day, respectively.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the second day figures of the film on Twitter. He wrote, “#83TheFilm struggles on Day 2… Shows growth [34.10%], but big jump missing… Premium multiplexes saviour… Cities/towns *beyond metros* + mass circuits poor, despite #Christmas holiday… Below expectations… Fri 12.64 cr, Sat 16.95 cr. Total: ₹29.59 cr… #India biz.”

Despite garnering praises from all quarters, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone-starrer ’83’ couldn’t make it big at the box office on Day 1, grossing only ₹ 12.64 cr.

Kabir Khan’s directorial ’83’, which revolves around India’s historical 1983 Cricket World Cup win, stars Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, who was the captain of the Indian team in 1983.

Interestingly, Ranveer’s wife– actor Deepika Padukone will be seen playing Romi, Kapil Dev’s wife in ’83’. The film also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Addinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa, R Badree, and Pankaj Tripathi.
