Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage held a meeting on December 13 with Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) Yevgeny Primakov and discussed avenues for advancing cooperation between Sri Lanka-Russia in scholarships, university and school collaborations, teacher training, youth development programmes, etc.
Currently Rossotrudnichestvo allocates 40 scholarships for Sri Lankan students willing to study in Russia. It also invites young leaders of ages 25 to 35 to visit Russia to establish professional contacts, build long-term partnerships with the Russian state and non-state entities, youth, and public organizations through a program of short-term study journeys “New Generation”.
The two sides agreed to continue regular engagements to enhance cooperation in all spheres of mutual interest.
