India Omicron tally surges to 653, country adds 75 cases of new COVID-19 variant in last 24 hours

India, so far, has reported 653 cases of Omicron variant of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) informed on Tuesday. In the last 24 hours, the country has added 75 cases.

As per the Health Ministry, 186 Omicron patients have recovered. On Monday, MoHFW has informed that the country had 578 cases of Omicron.

Maharashtra and Delhi continue to report most number of Omicron cases in the country. With 167 cases, Maharashtra tops the states and Union Territories with Omicron cases. Of the total cases in the state, 106 are undergoing treatment, while the other 61 have recovered.    

Delhi till date has reported 165 cases of Omicron, of which only 23 have recovered, while others are undergoing treatment.

Kerala has reported 57 Omicron cases, while Telangana has till date logged 55 cases. Only one person has recovered in Kerala and 10 have recovered from Telangana.

Gujarat has so far reported 49 cases, Rajasthan has reported 46 cases. Gujarat has 39 active cases of Omicron, while Rajasthan has 16 active cases. 

Tamil Nadu has so far reported 34 cases of Omicron till date, of which 16 have recovered. Karnataka till date has logged 31 cases of which 15 have now tested free of infection.

Madhya Pradesh Omicron tally stands at nine, of which seven have recovered. Odisha reported eight cases of the new variant of COVID-19. All the patients in the state are undergoing treatment.

Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal have till date reported six cases each of Omicron. Only one patient in both the states has recovered from the virus.

Haryana and Uttarakhand have reported four cases each till date. Chandigarh and, Jammu and Kashmir have both reported three cases each.

Uttar Pradesh has reported two cases of Omicron till date and both the patients have recovered from the virus. Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Manipur have reported one case each of Omicron so far.
