PM Modi adds RS 12 cr Mercedes-Maybach S650 to his collection

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has got himself a set of new wheel. The Indian PM added the Mercedes-Maybach S650 armoured vehicle to his convoy. The car costs a whopping Rs 12 crore.

For the unversed, PM Modi, already has Range Rover Vogue and Toyota Land Cruiser.

The security details of the Prime Minister, including his cars, are decided by the Special Protection Group (SPG). The SPG orders two identical cars and the second vehicle is used as a decoy.

The armoured Mercedes-Maybach S650 was recently seen at Hyderabad House in New Delhi when the Prime Minister arrived to welcome Russian President Vladimir Putin. The S650 Guard arrives with VR10-level protection.

According to reports, the Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard offers the highest level of armoured protection in any car and can withstand bullet shots thanks to the upgraded windows and body shell that can even take on assault from AK-47 rifles.

Reports also state that the car’s windows have a polycarbonate coating that can withstand hardened steel core bullets as well. The Maybach also has an Explosive Resistant Vehicle (ERV) 2010 rating that protects occupants from a 15kg TNT explosion from a distance of only 2 metres.

The Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard runs by a 6.0 litre twin-turbo V12 engine that produces 516bhp and a peak torque of approximately 900Nm. It can go up to a maximum speed of 160kmph.

The car also receives separate air supply in case of a gas attack and its fuel tank is coated with a special material that seals the holes automatically after a hit.
