The University Grants Commission (UGC) says that new students will be enrolled for the 2020/2021 academic year from January.
Accordingly all the Medical Faculties are scheduled to commence in January, UGC Chairman Prof. Professor Sampath Amaratunge said.
Undergraduates for Arts Faculty of the Sri Jayewardenepura University will be enrolled from January 3 while other Faculties will follow the recruitment of undergraduates so as to commence academic activities in January.
However, the universities have to complete the fourth year academic activities prior to recruiting new undergraduates. Under this universities, which complete the fourth year academic activities will recruit undergraduates for the 2020/2021 academic year aiming to start academic calendar soon.
Applications calling for the 2020/2021 academic year ended on December 16. The UGC received 38,000 university entrance applications for which interviews are being held.
