Covid-19 Pandemic: Know restrictions, exemptions during Delhi weekend curfew

Amid the mounting number of coronavirus cases, a 55-hour weekend curfew has been imposed in Delhi from Friday night.

The curfew started at 10 pm on Friday and will continue till 5 am on Monday. Action will be taken against those who leave home without necessary work.

People involved in essential services have been exempted from the curfew. If one is going to travel by train or plane, then he must have a travel ticket.

Officials said adequate arrangements have been made to enforce the curfew in Delhi to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Necessary services are exempted during the weekend curfew. 

Officials said that people would be allowed to leave their homes only in case of emergency. Those who leave will have to submit an e-pass or a valid identity card issued by the government.

E-passes will be issued from the DM office. For this, you have to apply on the website of Delhi Government www.delhi.gov.in. 

Electricians, carpenters, water suppliers, IT services, back employees, suppliers of fruits, vegetables, milk, medicines and medical devices have to take e-pass. Workers like cooks, gardeners and cleaners will not be exempted from the curfew.

Who will get exemption from the curfew?

– Passengers coming and going at airports, railway stations and inter-state bus terminals will get discounts. Tickets must be shown when stopped.

– People involved in the supply of essential goods and services can get out. They have to show their valid identity card.

– Doctors and health workers, pharmaceutical company personnel and people involved in the supply of medical oxygen will get discounts.

– Pregnant women and other patients with attendant are allowed to go out for treatment. They will have to show identity cards and doctor’s prescriptions.

– Media workers of electronic and print media will get discounts. Identity card must be shown.

– Students appearing for the examination and those posted for examination duty will be exempted from the curfew.

– 20 people will be allowed to come and go for wedding ceremonies upon showing the soft or hard copy of the wedding card.
