The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is going to announce its chief ministerial candidate in Punjab today. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal will announce the name of AAP CM face in Punjab in a press conference at 12 noon.
Earlier on January 13, Arvind Kejriwal had announced a referendum for his party’s chief ministerial candidate.
AAP leader Raghav Chadha said in Chandigarh, “We have received more than 1.5 million responses for the post of Chief Minister through SMS, voice calls and WhatsApp messages. The IT team is analyzing every call and message.”
After 4 days of referendum, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claims that more than 21 lakh people have given their opinion on who will be the chief ministerial candidate of the party in Punjab.
According to sources, Arvind Kejriwal may declare Bhagwant Mann, president of his party’s Punjab unit, as Punjab’s chief ministerial candidate.
Bhagwant Mann is the head of the Punjab unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and is an MP from the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat of Punjab. Bhagwant Mann made his mark as a comedian and became very famous in Punjab. After this Bhagwant Mann entered politics in 2012 and joined Manpreet Badal’s Punjab People’s Party.
In the 2012 Punjab assembly elections, he contested from Lehra Assembly seat of Sangrur, but could not get success. After this Bhagwant Mann joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in 2014 and contested from Sangrur Lok Sabha seat on an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket.
Bhagwant Mann had won the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat with more than 2 lakh votes and reached Parliament. After this, in the Lok Sabha elections of 2019, Bhagwant Mann again won the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat with more than 1 lakh votes.
Polling for 117 assembly seats of Punjab is to be held on February 20. The votes will be counted on March 10. The Election Commission on Monday accepted the request of political parties to hold polls in Punjab on February 20 instead of February 14 in view of Guru Ravidas Jayanti.
