Beijing:
China on Thursday described the latest round of military-level talks with India as positive and constructive and said that the Chinese government will work closely with its Indian counterpart to properly handle the border issue.
At the same time, China denied US allegations of threatening its neighbors.
The 14th round of military talks between India and China was held on January 12 in which both sides agreed to continue talks through military and diplomatic channels to reach a mutually acceptable solution to the remaining issues of the standoff in eastern Ladakh.
Senior Colonel Wu Qian, spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense of China, made this statement in response to a question.
Qian sharply criticized White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s January 12 remarks at a Thursday press briefing in which she accused China of attempting to intimidate its neighbours. Psaki had said that the US was monitoring the situation.
Responding to Psaki’s remarks, Qian said, “Some US politicians are very fond of using the word coercion and have forgotten thatthe US is the inventor of diplomacy by force. The China-India border issue is a matter between the two countries and both sides oppose any third party interference.”
