Two Russian nationals aged 33 drowned at the Hikkaduwa Narigama beach while sea bathing, Hikkaduwa police said.
The victims had arrived in the country with their fiances about a month ago. The two were swept away by a wave while bathing at the Narigama beach in Hikkaduwa on December 30 night.One of them was rescued and admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle where he succumbed to his injuries.The body of other Russian was washed ashore on the beach in Narigama on December 31.
The body was sent to the Karapitiya Hospital for an autopsy by the Rathgama Inquirer into Sudden Deaths B.M.A Sagarika Nilmini.
