Varsha Gaikwad offers discussion as students protest at her doorstep against offline exam

Mumbai:

Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad on Monday asked students to have a discussion with her as a huge section of students gathered before her house and demonstrated against Class 10 and 12 offline examination.

“We’ve been continuously discussing students’ health and safety. I told students to have discussions with me; I’ll decide further,” said Varsha Eknath Gaikwad.

She further asserted,” But we also have to keep in mind the two-year loss in school students’ education.”

On being asked whether the crowd gathered on the directions of  Vikas Fhatak aka ‘Hindustani Bhau’, DCP Pranay Ashok said that an inquiry will be conducted and action will be taken.

According to the media reports, Hindustani Bhau during his Instagram live session said that examinations should be canceled immediately or he, along with his supporters, will move to the doorstep of Varsha Gaikwad and protest.

He assured the students to his full support until they get justice. Bhau, in his video, said that he is powerful enough to face consequences and jail.

The students have protested in front of minister’s house on Monday (January 31) demanding the cancellation of the examination of Class 10 and 12 in view of the Covid-19 pandemic prevailing in the state.  After observing a large crowd, the police charged lathis in order to disperse the students.
