New Delhi: Very soon 5G services are going to become a ground reality in India. India has reached the final stages of implementing high-speed 5G services. This spectrum is being auctioned.
A meeting of the Union Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which the Department of Telecommunications was approved for the auction of 5G spectrum. In this auction, the highest bidder will be given spectrum, after which he will be able to provide 5G services to the public as well as companies.
What is 5G?
5G is the fifth generation mobile network, which can transmit big data in a few seconds. Compared to 3G and 4G, the latency in 5G is very less, so that the user experience of different sectors will be better. Low latency refers to the network’s ability to process high-volume data with the least delay.
With the arrival of 5G, it is also expected that it will bring more development in remote data monitoring sectors such as mining, warehousing, telemedicine and manufacturing.
Who has participated in 5G auction?
Reliance Jio, Adani Group, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea are the big names in the auction process.
How much revenue will the government get from the auction?
On the first day of the auction, the Department of Telecommunications has received a total of 1.45 lakh crore bids. It was estimated that the auction would fetch revenue of Rs 80,000-90,000 crore. Reliance Jio had already deposited 14,000 crores as EMD (earnest money deposit). This is more than half of the amount put by the bidders in the auction. After this, the highest amount has been invested in the form of EMD, Airtel (5,500 crore), Adani Data Network (100 crore).
Vodafone has invested Rs 2,200 crore. The EMD amount shows which company is planning how to get spectrum.
Speed
It is estimated that 5G services will be 10 times faster than 4G.
