PM Modi congratulates Neeraj Chopra: Javelin star replied THIS way

New Delhi: India star athlete Neeraj Chopra replied to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s congratulatory post for the Javelin Thrower.

Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal at World Athletics Championships 2022 after throwing his spear at the distance of 88.13m. This is India’s first ever silver at WAC and the 24-year-old became first Indian men to clinch medal at championships.

PM Modi congratulates Neeraj Chopra on Twitter and wrote for the young athlete, “A great accomplishment by one of our most distinguished athletes! Congratulations to @Neeraj_chopra1 on winning a historic Silver medal at the #WorldChampionships. This is a special moment for Indian sports. Best wishes to Neeraj for his upcoming endeavors.”

Neeraj Chopra humbly replied to the post and said, “Thank you so much, sir! Representing India is a great honor and one I am proud to have the opportunity for.”

After winning the silver medal, Chopra had said, “It’s feeling good. It’s pretty great because I won silver at the World Championships. But there is always a desire for gold, so I will try to improve my performance in the next World Championships.”

India wrapped up their campaign at WAC with one medal and few athletes reaching the finals of their respective games. Along with Neeraj, Rohit Yadav had also made it to the finals of Javelin Throw. However, he ended on 11th number after the throw of 78.72m.

In women’s Javelin Throw , Annu Rani also made it to the finals of the tournament but failed to get any medal. Rani finished seventh in the women’s javelin throw final with a below-par effort of 61.12m at the World Championships. The national record holder had qualified for the final as eighth best in the qualification round with a throw of 59.60m. Defending champion Kelsey-Lee Barber of Australia won the gold with a best and world-leading throw of 66.91m.
