SLAF STANDBY FOR SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS

Director of Sri Lanka Air Force’s Media Division states that SLAF is on standby to deploy aircraft and rescue personnel (first responders) to undertake search and rescue operations under the instructions of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana in the event of a disaster situation of flood and landslide-prone areas in the island that may occur with the activation of the low-level atmospheric disturbance.
The surveillance aircraft, helicopters and specially trained Regimental Special Forces from SLAF are currently on standby to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief of victims.
