Significant net foreign inflows to CSE

The CSE was quite positive throughout yesterday due to notable foreign activities. Significant net foreign inflows occurred, stock market analysts said. Both indices were positive. The All- Share Price Index went up by 61.6 points and S and P SL 20 rose by 0.44 points.

Turnover stood at Rs 4.2 billion with three crossings. Those crossing were reported in Atken Spence, which contributed Rs 618 million to the turnover and crossed 4.1 million shares at a price of 151, Expo Lanka holdings’ 2.5 million shares crossed to the tune of RS 562 million, its shares traded at Rs 225 and TJ Lanka 2.5 million shares crossed to the tune of RS 109, its share price being Rs 44.

In the retail market top five companies that contributed to the turnover were; Lanka IOC Rs 430 million (2.2 million shares traded), Expo Lanka Rs 289 million (1.3 million shares traded), LOLC Finance Rs 282 million (32.7 million shares traded), Brown Investments Rs 196 million (24. 3 million shares traded) and Melstacorp Rs 164 million (2.8 million shares traded). During the day 144 million share volumes changed hands in 32000 transactions. Yesterday the Central Bank’s spot exchange rate was Rs 361.45 per dollar.
