Blast in Afghanistan’s Aybak kills 16, wounds 24

Kabul: At least 16 people were killed and 24 others wounded on Wednesday after a blast at a madrassa in Afghanistan’s northern city of Aybak, media reports said.

The blast took place in Jahdia seminary in Aybak city of Samangan during the afternoon prayer, reported Tolo News.

A doctor of Samangan Provincial Hospital says that at least 15 dead and 27 injured people have been brought to this hospital.

Local officials said the blast happened during the afternoon prayers.

A doctor in Aybak, about 200 kilometres (130 miles) north of the capital Kabul, said the casualties were mostly youngsters.

“All of them are children and ordinary people,” he told AFP, on condition of anonymity.

No terror group has taken responsibility for the blast.
