Executive Officers launch sick-leave campaign over salary anomalies

<p><img src="" alt="Featured Image"></p><p><!-- wp:html --><p>A two-day sick leave campaign launched by the Government Executive Officers  yesterday brought a number of state services to a standstill.The Joint Committee of Government Executive Officers called for this campaign based on several demands including issues with their salaries.</p>
<p>Executive officers in engineering, health, education, agriculture and several other sectors joined the sick leave campaign.</p>
<p>President of the Joint Committee K.L. Udayasiri said that ad-hoc decisions taken by the government had led to serious salary anomalies in the state sector. They have to be rectified immediately, he said.</p>
<p>Members of the union also held a protest in Colombo. The non-academic staff of universities also withdrew from non-essential services from Thursday.
