New political front formed with common programme 

<p><img src="" alt="Featured Image"></p><p><!-- wp:html --><p>A new political alliance, named Sarvajana Balaya, was launched in Colombo yesterday morning with seven political parties joining forces to contest the forthcoming elections.</p>
<p>The new alliance includes Dilith Jayaweera's Mawbima Janatha Party (MJP), MP Wimal Weerawansa's National Freedom Front (NFF) and MP Udaya Gammanpila's Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (JHU), MP Vasudewa Nanayakkara's Democratic Left Front, the Communist Party, MP Gevindu Kumaratunga's Yuthukama National Organisation (YNO) and a collective of 'independent' MPs, led by MP Channa Jayasumana.</p>
<p>An agreement on the formation of the new alliance was signed yesterday morning (27), at the Movenpick Hotel, in Colombo by MP Gammanpila representing the PHU, MP G. Weerasinghe on behalf of the CP, DBD Tilakasiri for the DLF, MP Weerawansa for the NFF, MP Jayasumana on behalf of Independent MPs' Forum, MP Kumaratunga for YNO and businessman Jayaweera for the MJP.</p>
<p>The new alliance has a 10-point programme.</p>
<p>Jayaweera said that several political parties and intellectual groups, including the Mawbima Janatha Party, had entered into an agreement to launch a new political movement named 'Sarvajana Balaya'.</p>
<p>"At a time when the country was facing an unprecedented crisis, those of us coming together as 'Sarvajana Balaya' recognise the need to move beyond criticism to find solutions, and to formulate a strategic plan that goes beyond empty promises," Jayaweera said on X.</p><!-- /wp:html --></p><p>[Category: <a href="https://feed.lankaimage.com/category/uncategorized/" rel="category tag">Uncategorized</a>]</p><p><strong>Tags:</strong> </p>
