The Health Ministry has made special arrangements to control dengue epidemic in Kalmunai, ministry sources said.
According to the sources, a special discussion was held at the Kalmunai MOH Office with Health Deputy Minister Fizal Kassim and Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Paba Palihawadana in this regard.
Arrangements were made to clean clean and cover wells with nets and use chemicals to prevent mosquito from breeding inside wells. The public and private organisation cleaned the area and educated the public about destroying mosquito breeding grounds, the sources said.
Five fogging machines worth Rs. one million were handed over to the Kalmunai MOH Office.
The health staff from Monaragala, Ampara and Baticaloa treated dengue patients, the sources added.
