Parliamentary Affairs and Mass Communication Minister Gayantha Karunathilake presented the Divineguma (Amendment) Bill to Parliament today.
The Bill, presented by Minister Karunathilake on behalf of Social Empowerment and Welfare Minister S.B. Dissanayake, proposes to amend the Divineguma Act No. 1 of 2013 to use the name ‘Samurdhi’ in place of ‘Divineguma’.
According to the proposed amendment, the word ‘Samurdi’ will replace the word 'Divineguma' in the following: Divineguma Development Department, the Divineguma National Council, the Divineguma Community Based Organization, Divineguma Regional Organization, Divineguma District Committees, Divineguma National Federation, Divineguma Community Based Banks, Divineguma Community Based Banking Societies, Divineguma Community Based Banking Union, Divineguma Development Fund, Divineguma Revolving Fund and Divineguma Beneficiary.
