H’tota harbour employees quizzed

Over 50 employees of the Hambantota harbour have been questioned by the Police as part of investigations into an alleged attacked on a journalist by Navy Commander Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne.

According to police sources, the investigators have recorded statements from the employees. Police have sought permission from the Navy Commander to record evidence from the Naval officers who were on duty at the harbour when the incident took place.

A journalist had complained to the Hambantota SSP that he was assaulted by the Navy Commander while videoing a protest at the harbour.

The journalist had mentioned in his complaint that he did not need an investigation into the incident.
