National Integration and Reconciliation Week proposed by the the National Integration and Reconciliation Ministry to be held from January 8 to 14 every year has received the Cabinet approval. The main objective of this initiative is to promote unity, peace, affection and brotherhood among different ethnic communities. “This is a “nation building” effort that lays foundation for united, strong, reconciled and prosperous nation which recognises “Unity in Diversities”, National Integration and Reconciliation Ministry Secretary V. Sivagnanasothy said, .
Programmes to promote national integration among schoolchildren, sensitization and awareness creating programmes among the public, private sector involvement in integration programme, inter-village exchange programmes in promoting north south dialogue and competition to promote national integration will be carried out in this week.
