The 12th anniversary commemoration of the Tsunami was held in Batticaloa yesterday. A total of 970 people in Navaladi, 243 in Thiruchchenthu, 160 in Dutch bar and 104 in Puthumugathuwaram lost their lives. Bishop of Batticaloa Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Ponniah, Jaffna District TNA Parliamentarian and ITAK President Mavai Senatiraja, Batticaloa District TNA Parliamentarians, Eastern Provincial Councillors and relatives of the deceased paid floral tributes and lit the remembrance flame.
