Retired Major’s son nabbed with weapons

 

Kurunegala Police yesterday, arrested the son of a retired Army Major for possessing two weapons including a micro pistol in the Defender vehicle he used which was seized by a Finance Company for default of lease payments.

The Police said the 19-year-old suspect was a resident of Kurunegala. According to Police sources, the Defender vehicle had been seized by the staff of the finance company in Sundarapola area in Kurunegala on December 3, since several installments of a lease had not been paid.

When they attempted to take the vehicle, a retired Major’s son had informed that there were two weapons in the vehicle and the personnel from the finance company had informed the Police about the two weapons found in the vehicle. The Police had arrested the youth with the two weapons.

Meanwhile, the retired Major had told the Police that he had no involvement relating to the weapons. The Police are further investigating as to how the Major’s son had got the weapons.
