An awareness demonstration to reduce road accidents under the theme “Let us together to have accident free road” organized by the Batticaloa Police Traffic Unit was staged in Batticaloa yesterday.
Vehicle drivers were seen carrying placards on how to reduce the road accidents.
This awareness demonstration commenced from Gandhi park and ended at Koddaimunai junction where several videos were displayed on large screen for the education of drivers and pedestrians.
According to the OIC Traffic Police R.M.S.I. Rajapaksa, more accidents will occur due to careless driving and carelessness of pedestrians.
This year from Sathurukkondan up to Kallady bridge 98 road accidents had been recorded where three people had died, 51 people sustained minor injuries and 14 vehicle damaged and 30 people received critical injuries.
