Trade Unions of the Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) urged not to violate the staff recruitment and promotion scheme (SRPS) of the SLT when recruiting employees attached to Human Capital Solutions (HCS), a manpower agency affiliated to the SLT.
SLT Trade Union Convener G.Anura Perera said employees should have completed the qualifications under the SRPS of SLT, following the recruitment process and policy of the SLT.
Addressing the media at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute yesterday, Perera urged the government to take action within this week and added they will not support the idea of recruiting employees to the SLT violating the SRPS.
“There are 2100 employees at HCS. Only the employees who were recruited within last year are with expected qualifications. These employees want the SLT to recruit them without considering their qualifications. That is not possible. The management should formulate a mechanism without violating the SRPS if these employees are to be recruited,” he said.
Perera said two months back, the SLT recruited 121 employees attached to HCS following the SLT recruitment procedures.
“As the SLT is a public liability company, employees without adequate qualifications cannot be recruited,” he said.
