Fisheries Minister Mahinda Amarweera instructed the Fisheries Department Director General to terminate the permit of the beach seine operator involved in killing twelve Dolphins.
Anti-corruption Unit of Trincomalee found 12 Dolphins tied to a monofilament thread and hidden in sea after being caught by a group of fishermen using a beach seine on March 8.
Minister Amaraweera also ordered the Director to carryout investigations on the case.
Sri Lankan waters are densely inhabited by dolphins. Killing dolphins is prohibited by the international law of the sea.
