Perpetual Treasuries (PTL) Beneficiary Owner Arjun Aloysius has sought an order to file a case against two senior Central Bank officials.
Filing a motion before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court, attorney Sajitha Jayawardena appearing on behalf of Arjun Aloysius said the Presidential Commission into the Central Bank Bond Issue had recommended that Senior Deputy Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe and retired Deputy Governor Ananda Silva were also responsible for the loss caused by neglecting their duties.
Counsel Jayawardena made this remark when the magisterial inquiry into the Central Bank bond issue was taken up before the Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne yesterday.
Jayawardena said the Presidential Commission had recommended to the Attorney General that these two officials have not performed their duties properly.
The CID should take legal action against them as they did against former Central Bank Governor Arjun Mahendran, Perpetual Treasuries (PTL) Owner Arjun Aloysius and CEO Kasun Palisena, the Counsel told court. He said the CID had not recorded any statements from these two individuals.
Jayawardena also pleaded to issue an order directing the CID to arrest Senior Deputy Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe and retired Deputy Governor Ananda Silva.
After observing the requests made by the defence counsel, the magistrate ordered the defence counsel to make this application, when the prosecution party was present in court.
Jayawardena also stated that his client Aloysius expects to join to the Director board of Perpetual Treasuries Private Limited.
The Magistrate fixed further inquiries for February 25.
