Investigations commenced yesterday on two drones that were spotted in the night sky flying over Kalpitya town and the Norochcholai Lakvjaya Power Plant.
According to Kalpitiya police, a drone was seen over Kalpitiya town between 1.00 a.m. and 4.00 a.m. yesterday (28). The Navy Camp which is situated in Kalpitiya town had opened fire in response to the drone sighting, people in the area said. Kalpitiya Police and the Navy are investigating.
Meanwhile, Norochcholai OIC Nilantha Bandara said that they have commenced an investigation on another drone which was seen flying over Norochcholai Lakvjaya Power Plant last Saturday (27) night. Norochcholai Police further said that the Sri Lanka Army and Special Task Force have been deployed to ensure the safety of the power plant.
