President Maithripala Sirisena ordered to ban of all face covering that obscures the identity the wearer from today, the President’s Media Division said yesterday night.
These measures have been taken under the newly enacted Emergency regulations, the PMD said in a media release.
It is necessary to keep the face uncovered in order to identify a person.
“This has been done purely to maintain national security and not to inconvenience any community. This decision was taken by the President to ensure peace and harmony in society, the PMD release said.
