Wife, husband’s mistress scuffle at court premises

A brawl took place at the Panadura Court premises close to the gate when a woman accused, in the custody of the Prison officials clung on to the neck of another woman, identified as the mistress of her husband who is in prison custody with her at the time and assaulted her.

The Prison officials and Inspector Ruperatne who were on duty at the Court premises intervened and saved the woman from further beating. The alleged mistress was arrested and produced before Court.

On May 15, two heroin related cases were called before Panadura Provincial High Court Judge Dhamith Thotawatte. A husband and his legal wife were the accused in these two cases for possessing heroin. Both of them were remanded and the Judge postponed the two cases.

The Prison Officials took them to the Prison bus halted near the Court House gate to take them to the Kalutara prison.

The accused had three mistresses. However, one mistress was loitering near the gate and attempted to talk to her paramour. While the prison officials were taking the husband and wife, to the Prison bus that was halted near the Court House gate, the wife of the accused clung on to the neck of the mistress of her husband and assaulted her.

Both fell on the ground and got in to a scuffle. Police Inspector Piyaratne, the Security Officer of the Court house,a Woman Police Constable and prison officials caught both woman and overpowered them. The mistress was arrested and later produced before Court.

Panadura Chief Magistrate Amila Navalage ordered personel bail in Rs.500,000 with a surety on the mistress of the accused.

The husband and wife,the accused in two heroin cases, were taken to the Kalutara Prison as they were ordered to be remanded by Panadura Provincial High Court Judge Dhamitha Thotawatte on May 15.
