The Galewela Pradesheeya Saba passed its 2020 budget by 17 votes when it its Chairman M.P.R. Jayatilake submitted it at a special Sabha meeting at the PS auditorium recently.
Seventeen members of the ruling party voted in favour of the budget along with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), while one Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) voted against.
NIne members of the United National Party and one SLFP member did not attend the meeting. Anticipated income for the new year (2020) of the budget is Rs.11,45,48982/64 and the expenditure is Rs.9,61,43624/25 with the surplus of Rs.1,84,05358/39.
Priority has been given to construct houses for poor families. Providing health facilities and empowering women are another main two aspects in the budget.
