Forty three persons including 30 public officials have been taken into custody during this year over bribery charges.
In addition to public officials, nine police officers and four school principals are among those arrested by the Commission to Investigate Bribery and Corruption.
These suspects were nabbed in 38 raids countrywide by Bribery Commission officials, according to commission’s director SSP Priyantha Chandrasiri.
The most recent arrest by the CIABOC is that of an Electricity Board technical officer on December 12, 2019 attached to the Gampaha Regional Electricity Board office.
