Two Budget proposals tabled at the Manmunai Pattu Arayampathy Pradeshiya Sabha were rejected recently. For the first proposal, seven of the total 17 councillors at the pradeshiya sabha voted against it, while three councillors voted in favour of it.
Those who voted against the proposal included five Tamil National Alliance (TNA) councillors, one United National Party (UNP) councillor, and one Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) councillor. Those who voted in favour included two Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP) councillors and the chairman of the pradeshiya sabha.
A Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) councillor, Tamil National Alliance (TNA) councillor, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) councillor, and National Front for Good Governance (NFGG) councillor were absent, while one councillor from an independent group abstained.
