SLTB workers request Rs.30,000 financial aid

Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) employees have sent a letter to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, who also holds the portfolio of Finance Minister, requesting him to grant them Rs.30,000 as financial aid.

The request has been made through the All-Island Transport Workers’ Union. Furthermore, the workers have also requested Rs.15,000 each as bonuses, and to purchase stationery for their children. In their letter, the SLTB employees have said that during the previous regime, they had been provided with only Rs.10,000 as financial aid and Rs.13,500 each as bonuses, and to purchase stationery for their children.

“At present, the cost of living and the price of stationery are both on the rise. That is why we have requested these new price ranges,” a group of workers attached to the Sri Lanka Transport Board Kurunegala North Depot said.
