Wanni district Parliamentarian and former Industries Minister Rishad Bathiudeen said his party will contest the forthcoming General Elections alongside Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa, irrespective of the party symbol.
He said his party was not concerned as to whether the symbol is the elephant or the swan.
Asked by the media as to whether his party would join Sajith Premadasa when Premadasa has declared that he would not join hands with Rishad Bathiudeen at the next election, he said Sajtih Premadasa had not conveyed such a decision to him personally. Bathiudeen who was participating in a ceremony held at Kurumankadu, Vavuniya, to mark the opening of a party office of the Samasith Lanka Mahajana Congress Party said he would contest the forthcoming General Elections from the Wanni district from the Sajith Premadasa-led coalition.
