Vote for government; prevent international pressure: Samarasinghe

People should cast their vote for the government at the next General Election in order to enable them to obtain a 2/3rd majority and prevent international pressure, Public Administration and Internal Affairs State Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said.

He was speaking at a meeting with election activists in Mathugama, recently.

The State Minister thanked the President and Prime Minister for having included him in the delegation to Geneva, together with the Foreign Relations Minister, to notify Sri Lanka’s decision to withdraw the co-sponsorship of Resolution 30/1 of October 2015.

He said that based on the experiences he gained in protecting the country’s reputation at the UNHRC, he would do everything in his power to protect the country and its military personnel who risked their lives to protect this country during the 30-year war. He added that based on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s concept to build the country, “Rata Hadana Saubhagyaye Dekma”, parliamentary power should be given to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in order to form a stable government to fulfill the development goals over the next five years.
