Power and Energy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera today directed the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and Lanka Electricity Company (Private) Limited (LECO) to issue separate electricity bills to consumers for March and April months and provide a relief period for them to settle the bills.
Accordingly, consumers will be given a one-month grace period to settle their bills of two months.
However, it has been revealed that the CEB has already issued a single electricity bill to consumers for both March and April months in several areas. Therefore, Minister has advised CEB and LECO to rectify the mistake immediately.
Minister Amaraweera made these remarks during a meeting held at the Ministry yesterday. The Minister also praised the great service made by CEB officials to provide uninterrupted power supply for the benefit of consumers who stayed at home during this COVID 19 outbreak.
