Kurunegala District former UNP parliamentarian and United National Party (UNP) General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasm yesterday (12) said that Eastern Province former governor Rohitha Bogollagama has requested in writing from the UNP leadership to withdraw his name (Bogollagama’s) as a nominee of the UNP national list.
“He has asked to write off his name even as a UNP member hereafter. When Rohitha Bogollagama was asked about this decision by the media, he said that he was not happy with the political aims and the objectives of the UNP for a better tomorrow for Sri Lanka and therefore, he requested the UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe to cut off his name from the UNP national list.
