The Jathika Jana Balawegaya, under the leadership of Anura Kumara Dissanayake, has presented to the public a programme that would uplift the country through economic growth, former MP Nihal Galappatti said.
“We have not given sweet promises to the people. Our aim is to establish a Parliament that understands people’s hearts—one that bears its responsibilities to the nation,” he said.
Former MP Galappatti expressed these views at a recent party meeting held in Ranasiripura, which was organised by Lunugamwehera Pradeshiya Sabha member Sarath Chandrasekara Yapa. He added that so far, no government has ever kept the promises they have given to the people; and that if they have done so, this country would not be in its current situation.
“Ours is a strong economic programme that will strengthen the country and its people. The previous regimes only focused on building their own economies, and not the country’s. That system should not be allowed to continue any further,” Galappatti said.
Now is the time for the people to give the majority of House seats to the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), who understand their grievances.
None of the other parties have have long-term solutions to improve the country’s economy. All they do is burden the people by discontinuing their aid programmes and increasing the prices of the day-to-day products and essential items, the former MP said, adding that such politicians have and will sell public property to fulfil their own agendas.
People should vote wisely in order to prevent such acts from happening in the future, he said.
