Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday pledged to establish a Development Task Force to monitor all development activities carried out in the country if his party gets elected at the upcoming parliamentary election.
Premadasa, speaking at a SJB election rally in Kaduwela, said that under the proposed task force, all development activities will be monitored closely to ensure they provide maximum benefits for the public.
The SJB leader said it was his opinion that power must be devolved to the lowest possible level, the village – the Grama Rajya’.
He also said that similarly under a future SJB government, power will be devolved to cities as well under the concept – Nagara Rajya.
Premadasa recalled how his father former President Ranasinghe Premadasa devolved power to the villages under the Gramodaya programme.
Premadasa said the SJB was confident of victory at the upcoming General Election.
