Industrial Export, Investment Promotion, Tourism and Aviation Minister Prasanna Ranatunga yesterday said the alliance formed with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) was only for the previous Presidential election, and it is not valid for the forthcoming General Eection.
He was addressing a meeting held at Beliatta yesterday.
“The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) members including myself will not contest the General election under the alliance with the SLFP, and we all contest as SLPP members under the “Lotus Bud “, he added.
“So, the alliance with the SLFP is not valid for the upcoming General Election. We do not hold any responsibility for any alliance with the SLFP,” he added.
The Minister said that even though most politicians are daydreaming about the next Prime Minster post, it’s definitely former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa who is the next Prime Minister with a majority of votes. Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa is also dreaming of becoming the next Prime Minister. It is just a dream and it will never become a reality. His lies cannot deceive the people,” the Minister said.
